Like the good old times, when adults only watched news from the TV and allowed one free choice of day time show for the kids per day.

I kinda agree of what you say that kids should not be exposed for Rated 15+ films If they are expose to it, then theres a chance of trouble which is similar to jorge's thread

Well T.V. is only okay when they reach at least maybe 6 or 7 years old...depending on the show too of course.

Blue's Clues 6. Dora: The Explorer 7. Hello Kitty . . . ETC... But as for us..we might bored to death if we watch this following xD

But some of those so called kids shows dont even contribute to the learning development of the children. Its more like the internet which is more on entertainment rather than knowledge.
Seriously, do you want the kids to think that dinosaurs or bears or things talk? That's just a load of crap...

I have to agree with Eric on this one. You can't really compare an adults mind with childs directly.

Well its one thing to develop the children's imagination...but I think too much imagination is also not good. They should try to minimize it a little or something. That way, everythings balanced...

You know, i always wondered if kid's programs are really good for them, i mean looking at it logically, while stuff like Higurashi(did i spell that right?) would just scare them to death (yes and probably scar them for life if there's no parent to tell them what's real and not), stuff like Tom and Jerry shows that it's ok to shoot someone, stab someone, hit them in the head with a giant hammer, etc, etc, etc...

Well, I used to watch stuff like that and I don't think any of that is right, so that crushes your theory completelly. So, I'd say it depends on the parenting to what the kid thinks is right or wrong. Afterall, parent's are there to guide you to adulthood.

Thats the reason why there are parental advisory warnings before each show that is not suitable for children...but mostly parents take this warning for granted when ,in truth, it really helps.

Most of the morning till after TV shows in Australia are either g or pg rated, TV shouldn't be that big of an issue as parents merely need to prevent the kids from watching TV at a certain time period where they know that M and above ratings are on..
I still think that the main issue these days is that kids have a unrestricted amount of freedom through computers and the internet. In fact the thread starter already stated that he came across those kids swearing in a internet cafe. If that doesn't raise alarm bells I don't know what will.

It's not how the programs are rated, but how the child sees them. That's why parent's need to partkate on educating the children of the contents of the show.

With G and PG ratings I can almost guarantee that there is no swearing in those shows. As for things luck tom and jerry blowing each other up ect.. Well as the kids develop they will take from society what is the accepted moral conduct (i.e. You don't go at someone with a hammer or use TNT to catch a roadrunner...) Things like murder and stealing are unacceptable in most, dare i say all societies these days...
